Where we step off the beaten path is in thinking about how we can influence the collective culture outside the walls of the company, helping shape the city around us. Simply put: what’s good for our place is good for our people.
From pop-up space to public space; bike infrastructure to food truck rallies; the nearby arts district, the local start-up scene, and everything in between—we find ways to connect Grow’s resources with our team’s talents and passions to drive the culture our employees love outside the office. A favorite of this kind was creating a home for Field Guide when we expanded our office, an idea we’ve aspired to scale ever since its great success.
We’re pleased to share Vibrant Spaces, a new initiative we designed in collaboration with our downtown business association to bring a surge of new business concepts to the neighborhood. The program brings together supportive property owners and community leaders around a common goal: the one-of-a-kind small businesses that define our city’s unique sense of place.
Through a competitive selection process, six new businesses will receive $20,000 and half-off rent for two years, in a variety of closely-located storefront spaces. Established street-level businesses can also apply for $60,000 in grants to create a more vibrant neighborhood.
We’re confident that the platform will take some of the pain out of getting great ideas to market, making Norfolk and our community better in the process. In just a few months, we’ll welcome some amazing new neighbors, and our employees will enjoy knowing their time and talents helped make it all happen. Win, win.
Learn more about the program at vibrantspaces.com, and apply by July 8th. Please help us share this unique opportunity with your friends, aspiring entrepreneurs, and favorite small businesses. We can’t wait to see your best ideas.
